# Connect Claude to these docs

URL: https://docs.spacerun.co/docs/platform/guides/connect-claude-mcp

> Add the documentation MCP server to Claude Code, Claude web and desktop, and use llms.txt exports.

The docs site exposes a read-only [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server at `/api/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). It offers three tools: `list_docs`, `search_docs` and `read_doc`. Clients discover the current tool list during connection.

> **Warning:**
>
> `docs.example.com` below is a placeholder. Replace it with the URL where these docs are deployed.

**Claude Code**

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http spacerun-docs https://docs.example.com/api/mcp
```

Local development (docs dev server):

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http spacerun-docs http://localhost:3100/api/mcp
```

Check it:

```bash
claude mcp list
```

Inside a session, `/mcp` shows status. Scope defaults to `local` (just you, this project). Add `--scope user` to use it in all your projects, or `--scope project` to write it to a shared `.mcp.json`. See the [Claude Code MCP docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp).

**Claude web / desktop**

Go to **Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector**, enter the MCP URL (`https://docs.example.com/api/mcp`) and add it. See [Get started with custom connectors using remote MCP](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp).

Remote connectors are reached from Claude's cloud, so the URL must be externally reachable over HTTPS. `localhost` will not work here; use it only with Claude Code running on your machine.

## What it can do

- `list_docs`: list published guides and API reference pages.
- `search_docs`: search the published content.
- `read_doc`: return a page's text, including full endpoint details (method, path, auth, parameters, schemas, status codes).

The server only reads the published documentation index. It cannot call the Platform API, and it needs no credentials.

## Other machine-readable formats

- `/llms.txt`: index of pages.
- `/llms-full.txt`: all content in one file.
- Per-page Markdown: append `.md` to a page URL.
